Bats Work the Night Shift

Bats fly at night and are attracted to flowers that are white or pale in color, large in size and have a strong frit-like fragrance.

Bats are very important pollinators in tropical and desert climates. Two kinds of nectar-feeding bats fly a thousand miles or more every spring from Mexico into Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

Over 300 types of fruit depend on bats for pollination. These include  mangoes, bananas and guavas.

A bird's wing is fixed, but a bat can scoop things up with its wing, cradle a new baby in the bottom of its wing or wrap a wing around itself like a blanket.
